Mistakes Help Vero-- Vero Beach took advantage of three Palm Beach errors to beat the Cardinals 6-5. Cole Bruce went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Adam Thomas earned the save in his first game back from Jacksonville.

The two teams combined for seven errors. The miscues from the Dodgers came early, from the Cardinals late.

Two errors in the second inning gave the Cardinals their first run and they added a pair solo homers in the top of the 5th inning to take a 5-1 lead.

The Dodgers scored in the fourth when Drew Locke doubled in Carlos Santana. Vero tied it in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Carter and Blake DeWitt led off with back-to-back singles. Carter scored on hit from Bruce and DeWitt came home on a fielder's choice.

Palm Beach scored twice to regain the lead in the sixth, helped by a wild throw on a double play attempt.

The lead held until the Cardinals self-destructed in the bottom of the seventh.

Cory Dunlap and Bruce doubled with one out to pull the Dodgers within a run. With one out, Locke walked and Adolfo Gonzalez then struck out but reached first base on a wild pitch.

When the catcher attempted to throw him out, his throw went sailing into right field and allowed Bruce to score the tying run. When the ball was throw to third to get Locke, it also went wild and brought in the eventual winning run.

Blake Johnson worked six innings and allowed five runs, three of them earned. Julio Pimentel (2-6) earned the win and was followed by Mike Megrew and Thomas, who recorded his first of the year.
