Raptors Use Longball-- Rick Taloa was drafted last year for his power and he put that on display with a pair of home runs that helped carry Ogden past Helena 7-5. Taloa's shots were both solo rips, one in the second and one in a five-run fourth that carried the Raptors to victory. The pair gave him four on the season.

Although Juan Rivera is definitely not noted for his power, he slammed a three-run homer in the fourth inning burst. It was his first of the season, only the second in his three years of pro ball. Taloa wound up with three hits while Scott Van Slyke chipped in with a double and single.

Helena got to starter Jesus Rodriguez for seven hits and five runs (three earned ) in his 3.1 innings but Dodger relievers were solid after that. Paul Coleman (1-1) went 2.2, allowing only one hit and no runs, Joe Jones followed with two scoreless and Garret White pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

The Raptors are now 13-15, still four out in the Pioneer League South. -Bill Shelley

Dodgers, Mets Split-- Ryan Ketchner made his long-awaited return to the mound in good fashion but the Dodgers couldn't hold a lead to lose to the Mets 3-2 in the second game of a makeup doubleheader. (The first, a Dodger victory, wasn't reported.)

Ketchner, who didn't pitch all of last year after an elbow operation, threw one scoreless inning in which he was touched for one hit. He came in after another rehab, Javy Guerra, went three shutout frames in which he held the Mets to two hits.

The Dodgers built a 2-0 lead, scoring on a wild pitch while Lyndon Poole singled home another in the third. However, Mario Gracia (1-1) was banged around for two run the sixth, then gave up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

A.J. Anthony had his first two hits as a pro to lead the Dodgers, who are 16-9 with a two game lead in the East Division. -Bill Shelley
