Duncan, Thomas -- Player, Pitcher of the Week

Each week, LAdugout.com salutes a player and pitcher from the Dodger organization for outstanding accomplishments during the past seven days. Those chosen this week from Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Vero Beach, Columbus, Ogden and the Gulf Coast Dodgers-

Jeff Duncan, of, Las Vegas-- Restored to center field after Jason Repko went back up to the Dodgers, Duncan made the most of his opportunity with a torrid week in which he ripped 15 hits in 24 at-bats for a .625 percentage. Twice he had four-hit games and one of three hits. He included two doubles and a triple in the barrage. This brought his season's mark up to .300 with five home runs and 24 RBI.

Adam Thomas, rhp, Vero Beach- It was a rewarding- and, at the same time, frustrating, week for Thomas. On July 23 against Tampa, he pitched seven innings in which he gave up four hits and two runs while striking out 14. However, those were enough runs for him th lose a 2-1 decision. Only July 29, he was at it again- this time, going five scoreless innings against Fort Myers in which he yielded five hits and no walks while striking out nine. He left, leading 1-0 but Fort Myers rallied later for a 3-1 victory. So, for the week, he pitched 13 innings giving up just two runs , walking only one while striking out 23- and wound up with a loss for his efforts. So far, for Vero Beach, Thomas is 2-4 with a 2.53 ERA.
