Mike Gardner, rhp, Gulf Coast Dodgers- Gardner did his best pitching when it counted the most. On Aug. 14, he threw five scoreless innings against the Nationals in a 3-0 victory, striking out two while not walking a man. He came back even stronger on Aug. 19 as he threw eight shutout innings, again against the Nationals in a 2-0 victory that clinched the Eastern Division title for the Dodgers. He struck out nine and walked two in that one. He's now 3-1 for the season with a 2.70 ERA. In 26.2 innings, he's struck out 20.
Jesus Soto, 2b, Ogden- It was a most productive week for Soto as he collected 11 hits driving in 11 runs in the process. Among those hits were three doubles and
two home runs. This raised his season's average to .278 with five home runs and 26 RBI.
