Alexander, Bell -- Player, Pitcher of Week

Each week salutes a player and pitcher from the Dodger organization for outstanding accomplishments over the past seven days. This week those chosen from Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Vero Beach, Columbus, Ogden and the Gulf Coast Dodgers are:

Josh Bell, 3b, Ogden. For the week Bell collected eight hits in his 17 trips to the plate, driving in nine runs in the process. He had two doubles, a triple and a home run in his total. For the season Bell is hitting .288 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 52 games.
Mark Alexander, rhp, Jacksonville. Alexander began the week with Las Vegas, picking up a save on Aug. 20 against Tacoma. Sent back to Jacksonville to bolster their bullpen for the upcoming playoffs, he earned saves on consecutive nights against Tennessee. For the week, he threw 4.2 innings , giving up a lone hit, no runs , walking just one while striking out six. On the season for Jacksonville, he has now saved 24 games and won three with an 0.64 ERA. This is the second time he's been honored.
