Stults Fans 10 in 4-2 Win at Colorado Springs

In an abbreviated schedule, Las Vegas stopped Colorado Springs 4-2 behind the pitching of Eric Stultz and four hits from Matt Kemp. Ogden took a 10-3 lead into the seventh and lost 12-11 to Billings despite homers by Carlos Santana and Jesus Soto. NOTE: Regretfully, LADugout will be off until Monday due to circumstances beyond our control.

Vegas Trips SkySox-- Eric Stults struck out 10 and banged out two hits as Las Vegas won 4-2 at Colorado Springs.

Stults (10-11) gave up two runs on four hits and one walk in seven innings. The 27-year-old southpaw has fanned 20 batters over his last 13.1 innings. Eric Hull retired the final six batters in order to notch his second save.

Nick Alvarez slapped an RBI single in the fourth inning, Stults provided a run-scoring double in the sixth and Delwyn Young added an RBI two-bagger in the seventh.

Matt Kemp went 4-for-5 to boost his average to .368 and Young and Alvarez had two hits apiece for the 51s (65-74).

Jacksonville-- Open date. The Suns return to action Thursday to begin the final regular season series at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, N.C. against the Carolina Mudcats. Carolina RH Daniel Barone will face Suns LH Ben Kozlowski.

Vero Beach- Rained out. Due tropical storm Ernesto, Vero Beach canceled their games for August 29 and August 30 against the Daytona Cubs and will not be made up.

Columbus-- Due to unplayable field conditions the Columbus-Rome game Wednesday was been cancelled. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning tonight and the two games will wrap up the 2006 Catfish home schedule. During the evening the Catfish will celebrate the accomplishments of the 2006 World Champion Columbus Northern Little League team. As a salute to Columbus, Georgia little leaguers, the Catfish will host Little League Appreciation Night. All area little leaguers who suit up in uniform will get a free general admission ticket. After Thursday's doubleheader Columbus goes on the road for one last four-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs.

Ogden Lets One Slip Away-- Ogden had Billings just where they wanted them, leading 10-3 going into the seventh inning but the Mustangs posted a seven on the board and went on to edge the Raptors 12-11. Chris Valaika, who was 4-for-5 with two RBI, banged two of his three doubles in the big inning.

Paul Coleman started and allowed seven runs, three earned, before leaving in the fifth. Jesus Rodriguez was tagged for five earned runs in 1 2/3 innings before Wayne Renfrow, just up from the Gulf Coast league, was roughed up for two more runs in just 1/3 of an inning. Miguel Ramirez (2-2) was hurt by another unearned run and took the loss.

Jesus Soto crushed a solo shot in the fifth and added two more runs batted in, and Carlos Santana had two hits, including a three-run homer in the seventh, for the Raptors (15-14).
