Castillo Gem Boosts Raptors 8-0

Jesus Castillo hasn't had much run support throughout the Pioneer League season but Tuesday he received a lot more than he needed as Ogden rolled past Idaho Falls 8-0. All other Dodger farm clubs are finished for the season, save Jacksonville who starts playoff action tomorrow.

Castillo threw seven strong innings in which he gave up only four hits as he won for only the second time despite a 2.86 ERA. He walked two and struck out four.

Tommy Giles provided the big bat with three hits including a three-run shot in the fifth, his fifth of the year. Josh Bell also banged three hits while Jeremy Brown and Jesus Soto added two apiece as the Raptors collected 13 in all.

Kalen Gearhart went the final two innings allowing two hits to finish the shutout as Ogden moved back to .500 at 18-18 in the second half. They have two games remaining. -Bill Shelley September 5, 2006
