Anderson's surgery was performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum and Dr. Ralph Gambardella at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, and recovery is expected to take three weeks.
Anderson, 32, was acquired Aug. 31 from Washington for Minor Leaguer Jhonny Nunez to serve as a left-handed pinch-hitter. But he quickly took over on a full-time basis, repalcing rookie Andre Ethier in left field.
Anderson caught fire, hitting .375 with seven homers and 15 RBIs in 64 at-bats after the trade. In the three-game playoff with the Mets, Anderson was 4-for-13 with a double and an RBI.
The Dodgers also announced they added shortstop Wilson Valdez to the 40-man roster and removed pitcher Giovanni Carrara. The 28-year-old Valdez hit .297 in 137 games and led Triple-A Las Vegas with 96 runs and 26 stolen bases in 2006, when he was named team MVP.
Valdez was acquired from Kansas City on March 31 for Minor Leaguer Jarod Plummer. The Dodgers are his seventh organization.
