Dodgers Sign Phillie Starter Randy Wolf

Baseball sources report that Lefthanded starter Randy Wolf, a free agent who the Phillies had counted upton to fill the final vacancy in their rotation, is expected to sign with the Dodgers. Wolf, who is from Canoga Park, California, and attended Pepperdine, lives in the Los Angeles area.

Wolf spent most of last season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Wolf went 4-0 with a 5.56 ERA in 12 starts last season, but generaly pitchers typically become stronger their second season removed from that surgery.

Apparently the Phillies offered more guaranteed years and money than the Dodgers, but Wolf, 30, seems willing to take a discount to return home. Foxsports.com reported that the Dodgers have proposed a one-year contract with a club option for 2008.

Wolf's best season was in 2003 when he want 16-10 with 177 strikeouts in 200 innings. went 69-60 with a 4.21 ERA in his Phillies career. Wolf was an all-star in 2003.
