Prospect #53 - RHP Miguel Ramirez has begun its look at the better prospects in the Dodger system. Today we present another as we count down to the very best.

Position- Relief Pitcher
Residence-Fonda Negro, D.R.
DOB- July 8, 1983
Ht- 5-11
B/T- R/R
How Obtained- Signed as a free agent, 2002
06 Club- Ogden (Pioneer League)

Ramirez seems to have found a niche since he was handed a closer's role in 2005. That year he saved five games for the Gulf Coast Dodgers; this time he was 2-5 with eight saves and a 3.82 ERA for Ogden.

He's not big but he has a fast ball in the low 90's and throws strikes. In 35.2 innings for Ogden, he struck out 46 while walking only nine. What's more, he held opposing batters to a .202 mark. He overcame some early shaky games and was much more reliable as the season wore on- always a good sign.

The job of holding a lead seems to suit him so he'll be kept at it. Next year should find him in the bullpen at the new low Class A team, the Great Lakes Loons.
