Dodger Prospect #39- Ryan Rogowski is currently taking a look at the top prospects in the Dodger organization. Here's another as we count down to the very best.

Position- Outfield
Residence- Livonia, Mich.
DOB- Jan. 26, 1984
Ht- 6-2
B/T- L/L
How Obtained- Signed as a free agent 2005
06 Club- Ogden (Pioneer)

Unsigned out of the University of Illinois, Rogowski was picked up as a free agent after being named the Most Valuable Player in the collegiate summer Northwoods League. There, he hit .346 and was the league leaders in hits, runs and triples. He also set a league mark in stolen bases, swiping 44.

Getting on and going is very much his game. He did it in college and as a pro, hitting .312 for Ogden while stealing 30 of 35 bases. That total tied him for the organizational lead with Adam Godwin of Columbus but you'll notice he got his in a short-season league which illustrates his ability in this department.

He has a compact line-drive stroke that isn't conducive to home runs although he has the strength (he was a Michigan wrestling champion while in high school) to drive them out in double figures eventually. He hit four in 2006.

He batted leadoff for the Raptors, compiling a 429 on-base percentage, walking 52 times while striking out only 40. Quite naturally he covers ground well in the outfield but he's had arm troubles and his throwing is below par.

He might start the season in low A but his abilities seem to indicate he'll be in high A before the season is over.
