Dodger Prospect #36- Cody White

LAdugout.com is currently taking a look at the top prospects in the Dodger minor league system. Here's another as we count down to the very best.

Name- CODY LEWIS WHITE
Position- Relief Pitcher
Residence- Texarkana, Tex.
DOB- Feb. 27, 1985
Ht- 6-3
Wt- 185
B/T- L/L
How Obtained- Drafted in 12th round 2003
06 Club- Ogden (Pioneer)

Cody White was a draft-and-follow who signed in 2004 but who developed arm soreness which caused him to be shut down after just five games that season. He still had problems the next year and wasn't particularly effective then either.

However, this past season he finally was healthy and what a difference! Few if any other pitchers showed more progress than he did.

Used as a middle reliever for Ogden, he upped his fast ball to the mid-90's and became a guy who could come in and blow the opposition away.

He went 4-2, 2.68, holding batters to a .190 average. He struck out 44 in 43 innings. Invited to the Arizona Fall League he was every bit as impressive.

He'll probably continue to be used as a set-up man as he progresses. He should start the 2007 season with Great Lakes.
