Abreu Wins Mulvey Award

Dodger infielder Tony Abreu has been named the winner of the 2007 Jim and Dearie Mulvey Award, which goes to the top rookie in camp.

The award, which has been given out every year since 1969, is named after the former Dodger owners, who had a share of the team from 1938 until 1975.

So far this spring, Abreu has batted .368 with three homers and 11 RBI while playing second base and shortstop, which gave him the edge over the other Dodger rookies who earned votes from the Dodger coaching and baseball operations staff. Last year's winner was Hong-Chih Kuo.

In 2005 it was Jason Repko and in 2004, James Loney took home the prestigious honor.
