Hu, Miller Named Players of Week

Each week salutes a player and pitcher from the Dodger organization for outstanding performances during the past seven days. Currently, the players are being chosen from those at Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Inland Empire and Great Lakes.

Chin-lung Hu, ss, Jacksonville. Hu had been going through an 0-17 slump and the whispers about his inability to hit in the high minors were being tossed about. He changed all that in a hurry as in the last five games, he has collected 14 hits in 23 at-bats.

Included in that barrage were six doubles and a triple. This onslaught has meant that Hu has raised his batting average to .354 with eight doubles so far.

Greg Miller, Las Vegas. For the second week in a row, one of the top lefthanders in the system has thrown an impressive no-hit performance. Two weeks ago, it was Scott Elbert. Now, Miller stepped up by going six innings without yielding a single hit against Colorado Springs on April 19.

Miller returned to starting this year after recovering from  shoulder surgery and the six innings was his longest stint in three years. He reduced his walk total to just two while striking out four. He did allow just one unearned run in the game won by the 51's, 9-5.

That was his first decision of the year, So far, he's worked 13 innings in which he's struck out 14 while walking eight. His ERA is 1.38
