How The Top Prospects Are Faring

With the season just over one month old, it's time to check on the top Dodger prospects as rated at the start and see how each is faring.

- Clayton Kershaw, lhp, Great Lakes. He's been doing just about everything you'd expect him to, except , maybe, walking more than usual ( 17 in 30.2 innings). He's 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA, has struck out 47 while batters are hitting only .200 against him.

- Matt Kemp, of, Las Vegas. Has been hitting the ball solidly after being optioned out. He has a .322 average with two home runs.

- Scott Elbert, lhp., Jacksonville. Currently on the disabled list with shoulder tendinits. Was pitching well before that with a 3-0, 3.86 record. Has struck out 24 in 14 innings.

- James Loney, 1b/0f, Las Vegas. Hasn't been hitting in his normal fashion. Has a .258 average with only one home run but has driven in 23.

- Andy LaRoche, 3b, Los Angeles. Was hitting only .235 with three home runs before being called up but has hit safely in all four big league games he's played in.

- Hong-Chin Kuo, lhp, Las Vegas. Has no won-loss record since being optioned out. A 4.32 ERA says he's not pitching all that well but 15 K's in 8.1 innings shows he has his good stuff.

- Blake DeWitt, 3b, Inland Empire. Hasn't really gotten off to any kind of a good start. He's at .206 with two homers.

- Greg Miller, lhp, Las Vegas. His pitches have been wandering off the plate lately with 28 walks as opposed to 27 strikeouts in 23 innings, an entirely unacceptable rate. He's 1-0, 4.63.

- Ivan DeJesus,ss, Inland Empire. Got off to a good start but has cooled of late. Currently down a bit at .236 with no home runs.

- Tony Abreu, 3b, Las Vegas. Switched to third just in case he's needed there up on top, he's been raking all spring. Currently at .351 with one homer.

- Delwyn Young, of, Las Vegas. Typical streaky beginning. At .259 with three homers.

- Jonathan Meloan, rhp, Jacksonville. Made into a closer, he's been superb so far. Is 3-1, 1.65 with five saves. Batters managing only .125 against him.

- Josh Bell, 3b, Great Lakes., Has been as cold as the Michigan weather. Hitting only .200 with one home run.

- Justin Orenduff, rhp, Jacksonville. His return from shoulder surgery is going well. Moved into the rotation, he has no decisions yet but sports a 3.26 ERA and is holding the opposition to a .197 mark.

- Bryan Morris, rhp. Is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire season.
