Players Of The Week- Huckaby, Arias

Each week LAdugout.com salutes a Dodger organization player and pitcher for outstanding achievements during the past seven days. The players are currently selected from those at Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Inland Empire and Great Lakes.

Player-- Ken Huckaby, c, Las Vegas. The veteran Huckaby shares catching duties with another vet, Kelly Stinnett, so only played in three games this past week but he certainly got production in those. He collected five hits in 11 at-bats- a .455 clip-, driving in six runs with those. Included in his barrage were one double and his first home run of the season. He's only played in 17 games thus far but has driven in 14 runs in that span while hitting .313.

Pitcher-- Marlon Arias, lhp, Inland Empire. Arias, a 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic hadn't been having much of a season so far but after working with pitching coach Charlie Hough, he changed all that on May 9 against Bakersfield. For nine innings he didn't allow a hit with only two walks spoiling his bid for a perfect game. He struck out 10 in his no-hitter, a 1-0 victory. That brings his season's mark to 2-1, lowering his ERA to 4.66.
