Pitcher Run Scores Leaders for 2007

Randy Wolf, William Juarez and James McDonald put new entries on the leaderboards that measure pitching performances. Developed by Bill James, Pitcher Run Scores gives point values for innings pitched and strikeouts, while subtracting for hits, runs and walks. A score of 60 is above average, 70 in the fine range, 80 in the remarkable department and over 90 incredible.

Wolf held Chicago to three hits over six shutout innings and posted a scored of 69, putting him in sixth place on the Dodger list.

Juarez worked six hitless innings against Portland and his Run Score of 80 set a new Las Vegas standard, topping Greg Miller's 72. The score also puts him in a tie for third place on the top 15 list.

McDonald took a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Sunday, and his now 15th on the overall chart and seventh on the Inland Empire to 10.

It is so difficult to break 90, a pitcher can work a nine-inning shutout, allow one hit and without walking a batter strike out six and still finish with "only" an 89.

Sandy Koufax has the all-time Dodger mark with a staggering 101 total after his perfect game against the Cubs in 1965. He also has a 98, posted in 1964 and 1966 plus a 97 from 1961.

Leaders are based on a maximum of nine innings. The all-time Dodger leader is Leon Cadore who pitched a complete 26-inning game on May 1, 1920 and allowed seven hits and a single run. His Game Score is a whopping 149.

Brad Penny's effort against Florida put him first on the L.A. chart with a score of 81. Mike Wolf's shutout of Cincinnati with 11 strikeouts puts him in second place with an 80.

Arias' 95 was earned by allowing no runs, walking only two and striking out 10 and giving him the minor league lead.

Chris White's 83 and is in second place after shutting out Beloit on May 7 and James McDonald of Inland Empire and William Juarez of Las Vegas are third with identical 80s.

Juarez (80) leads Las Vegas; Mike Megrew (78) tops Jacksonville; Arias (95) is the Inland Empire leader and Chris White (83) is atop the Great Lakes chart.

These charts will be updated as changes are made and we hope to list the top 15 all-time Dodger Run Scores soon.
