Players of the Week- Pedroza, Wilson

Each week salutes a player and pitcher from the Dodger organization for outstanding accomplishments. The players are selected from those with Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Inland Empire, Great Lakes, Ogden and the Gulf Coast Dodgers.

This week's winners:

Player Jaime Pedroza, ss, Ogden-- Both Pedroza and Xavier Paul of Jacksonville had outstanding weeks with 12 hits apiece but Pedroza is selected because his was more productive with eight runs batted in. He collected those dozen hits in 25 at-bats. The ninth-round draft choice from UC-Riverside in June, he's played in 10 games thus far and is hitting .444.

Pitcher Kyle Wilson, rhp, Inland Empire-- Wilson has been a superlative closer for the 66ers ever since he came off the disabled list and he was doing that again last week. During that span he closed three times and saved all three games In those he worked 3.1 innings, allowed two hits and no runs, walking no one while striking out three.

Thus far this season he's pitched in 22 innings in which the opposition has managed only one earned run. He has an 0.41 ERA, has saved eight games, has walked only three men while striking out 20. The opposition is managing only a .185 average against him.
