Billingsley Now on Run Scores Chart

Chad Billingsley's seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts places him in a tie with Randy Wolf at 80 Run Scores each, trailing only Brad Penny's 6-1 win at Florida on May 7.

It is Billingsly's first listing on the charts and came after allowing three hits, no runs, no walks and recording nine strikeouts.

Brad Penny and Derek Lowe each have five positions on the list of top 15 performancs.

Run scores creates a way to scan a pitchers line from a game and give it a proper rank. Developed by Bill James, it gives different point values for innings pitched and strikeouts, while subtracting for hits, runs and walks. A score of 50 is average with 70 in the fine range, 80 in the remarkable department and over 90 incredible.

Arias Near-Pefect
Among the farm clubs, Arias' 95, stemming from his no-hitter against Bakersfield in May, tops the minor league list.

The Loons Clayton Kershaw is second after dominating league-leading Dayton and third place Cody White has a fine 83 after shutting out Beloit on May 7.

William Juarez leads Las Vegas with a 80, crafted against Portland May 26; Mike Megrew tops the Jacksonville list with a 78 registered against Carolina on June 10 and Kershaw tops the Loons chart with his 86 against Dayton.

Paul Coleman, pitching for Ogden, stopped Casper June 24 and earned a 78, moving him into the top 15. Five days later he had a 74 against the same team. John Dutton leads the Gulf Coast Dodgers with a 62.
