Player, Pitcher of the Week- Hu, Hull

Each week, LAdugout.com salutes a player and pitcher in the Dodger system for outstanding accomplishments. The players are selected from those with Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Inland Empire, Great Lakes, Ogden, the Gulf Coast Dodgers and the Dominican Dodgers. This week's winners:

Player Chin-lung Hu, ss, Las Vegas. On July 8, Hu earned national attention as he was named the Most Valuable Player for leading the World team past Team USA in the Futures Game. In that one, he doubled in one run, singled in another, stole a base and sparkled in the field.

He then was promoted from Jacksonville to Las Vegas and what a Triple A debut! In four games, he had eight hits in 18 at-bats for a .444 average. Three of those went out of the yard , three more were doubles. Those were good for six runs batted in.

This is the second such award for Hu, having previously been honored for his play with Jacksonville.

Pitcher Eric Hull, rhp, Las Vegas. Hull has quietly taken over as the closer for the 51's and has been doing an exceptional job in that role. Since July l6 he has worked in five and one-third innings in which he's allowed only one hit and no runs. During that stretch he's saved four games.

For the season, Hull now has a 3-3 record with a 3.26 ERA and seven saves. Batters are managing only a .237 average against him. All this in a league notorious for its hitting.
