Penny Tops N.L. in Runs Scored Above Average

Los Angeles ranks fourth on the National League Runs Scored Above Average list, with the Diamondbacks, Padres and Giants all bunched together in the first five, trailing the Chicago Cubs. Brad Penny tops the National League list with 19 points.

Runs Created Above Average is a stat invented and tracked by Lee Sinins, the author of the Sabermetric Baseball Encyclopedia. Lee calculates each player's Runs Created, and then compares it to the league average, given that player's number of innings.

Despite losing his last two starts, Brad Penny leads San Diego's Chris Young (28) and Jake Peavy (27), who are second and third, while Brandon Webb of Arizona is in fourth place with 26 points.

Derek Lowe, Takashi Saito, Jonathan Broxton and Chad Billingsley are all in double figures and trail Penny on the Dodger charts. Joe Beimel, -- and Roberto Hernandez are all in positive figures, all others on the staff are below the average line. Scott Proctor, Eric Stultz and Chin hui Tsao are at exactly zero.

Listed below are the top 10, the National League team standings and the complete Dodger pitching staff. Also included is the top five on each of the N.L. teams.
