Ogden Eliminated From Post-Season Play

Ogden was officially eliminated from post--season consideration Tuesday but the Raptors hardly went quietly. Au contraire, an aroused offense besieged Casper with 23 hits in an 11-7 assault that gave them a sweep of the series and their fourth straight win.

Unfortunately, as far as playoff thoughts are concerned, they also ran out of time, for Orem won thus leaving the Raptors 3 1/2 games behind them with only three left so the Owlz will get the wild-card spot that had stirred the belated Raptor hopes.

But the hitters certainly made a statement anyway. Erik Kanaby was 5-for-5, Jamie Ortiz had a home run, double and single, Travis Vetters hit three doubles and a triple, Jovanny Rosario chipped in with four hits, Kenley Jansen tripled and added two singles and Austin Gallagher had a couple of base knocks as well.

The Ortiz blast was his 11th, leading off the sixth. By then the Raptors had piled up a 10-2 lead and were coasting. Unnoticed in all this was Gil Stanke's good mound performance as he held the Rockies to six hits and two runs- only one earned- over five innings in winning for only the second time in nine decisions.

The Rocks then hacked away at Tim Gray for three runs and Jon Haldis for two but that made little difference as Ogden moved to 15-20 for the second half.
