Winter Ball Report - December 11

Each week LADugout com reports on how Dodger players are doing in the various winter leagues now in operation. Those leagues include the Venezuelan, Dominican and Mexican Pacific.

VENEZUELAN- Last week's Rule 5 draft results forced the Dodgers to switch their attention on the Caracas Lions of this league. Joey Norrito and Juan Apodaca, who are playing with the Lions, both were drafted away from LA but the Dodgers in turn picked up their teammate, lefthander Victor Garate. Garate is currently 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA.

Other Dodgers around and about this league are pitchers Jonathan Figueroa (1-5, 6.08), Alberto Bastardo (0-2, 3.30) and Miguel Pinango (0-1, 3.36). Infielder Juan Gonzalez has resumed play and is hitting .222 while first baseman Eduardo Perez remains idled with a .167 mark.

DOMINICAN- Few Dodgers continue to be active here. John Lindsey is batting only .143 with one home run while pitchers Marlon Arias is 0-0, 9.00 and Ramon Troncoso is 0-1, 21.60.

MEXICAN PACIFIC- Jesus Rodriguez had no decisions during the week so remains undefeated at 5-0, 2.64. Mauricio Tequida is 1-1, 2.16 with six saves while Jesus Castillo is 1-1, 1.50. Francisco Feliz has an 0.78 ERA despite a 1-2 record while Thomas Melgarejo is 1-2, 4.50.

Sergio Garcia is hitting only .198 with two home runs.
