After spending three seasons in the Dominican Summer League Collado arrived on these shores with a couple of prime assets. One is a very strong arm which he uses to good advantage on controlling the running game. The other is a short, compact stroke that produces line drives consistently.

He used both to win honors on the league's All-Star team. He hit .305, can battle to deep counts, is tough to strike out and gets wood on the ball. There doesn't seem to be any power potential in either his approach or his physical size.

Despite the good arm, he's anything but a polished catcher. He doesn't shift his body well behind the plate and has trouble with low pitches. These, of course, are correctable faults and if he can smooth out, he could be a factor

. He could advance as high as Great Lakes in 2008 but may start the season at Ogden.
