Pinango Tops System in Winning Starts

An LADugout exclusive report shows that Miguel Pinango recorded 17 winning starts during the 2007 season and Greg Miller led all minor leaguers in run support during the 2007 season and recorded a 8-6 record in games started.

Winning starts include the team won-lost record per start, not the actual record the pitcher put in the official guide. And each pitcher is also ranked by the amount of support given him over the season. It would be unfair to compare pitchers in the Dodger system because each club scored a different amount of runs during the year. Las Vegas and Inland Empire topped five runs per game, Jacksonville and Great Lakes finished behind them with the Loons scoring almost a run and one-half less than the 51s.

Therefore a good pitching effort at Inland Empire would be less likely than the same performance in Las Vegas.

Nine different pitchers received five runs or more during the season.

The run support given their staff by each team:
		gms runs RSupport
Las Vegas	144 817 5.67
Jacksonville	140 679 4.85
Inland Empire	139 718 5.17
Great Lakes 139 582 4.19
Pinango, who led all pitchers with 17 wins in his 28 starts, had a 15-8 record with Las Vegas and received 5.09 runs per game. At Inland Empire he was 2-3 and had to make do with only 2.40 runs per start.

James McDonald had 16 winning starts, divided between Inland Empire (9-7) and Jacksonville (8-2). Between the two, he had 4.60 runs per game to work with.

Cody White's breakout season saw him win 15 of his 26 starts, seven at Great Lakes and eight at Inland Empire, receiving 3.57 and 4.70 runs respectively.

Marlon Aires won 16 and Javy Guerra crafted 14 wins for Inland Empire.

Pinango led Las Vegas with 15 runs; Cyr topped the Jacksonville chart with a 10-6 record; Guerra's 14 led Inland Empire and Josh Wall won 11 while Steven Johnson and Kershaw each had 10 for the Great Lakes Loons.
