Dodger Winter Ball Report - December 17

Each week is taking a look at how Dodger players are doing in the various winter leagues now in operation. Among those leagues are the Dominican, Mexican Pacific and Venezuelan.

DOMINICAN- Francisco Desgue is having a standout winter, one that prompted the Dodgers to ignore the fact that he's 36 years old, sign him and invite him to compete for a spot in the bullpen. Right now he's 2-0, 1.69, with two saves.

Recently re-signed outfielder Wilkin Ruan is batting .250 with no home runs. John Lindsey is hitting only .143 with one home run. Pitchers Ramon Troncoso and Marlon Arias both remain idle.

MEXICAN PACIFIC- Jesus Rodriguez picked up his sixth victory and remains undefeated with a 2.49 ERA. Mauricio Tequida is 2-1, 2.02 with six saves, Jesus Castillo is 1-1, 2.84; Thomas Melgarejo is 1-2, 4.71; and Francisco Feliz is 1-2, 1.50 with one save.

Shortstop Francisco Lizarraga has begun playing and after nine games is batting .227. Sergio Garcia has a .198 average with two home runs while catcher Gabe Gutierrez is batting .270.

VENEZUELAN- Among the pitchers, Jonathan Figueroa is 1-5, 6.08; Alberto Bastardo is 1-2, 3.47; Victor Garate is 1-0, 4.76; and Miguel Pinango is 0-1, 2.70. Juan Gonzalez is hitting .222.
