Dodgers Re-Sign Fussell; Release Brooks, Talo

The Dodgers have brought back one of their 2007 players who had gone off to minor league free agency but at the same time released two others from their system. Righthander Chris Fussell, who joined Las Vegas in mid-season, has been re-signed while another righthander, Doug Brooks, and first baseman Rick Taloa were released.

Fussell, who has big league experience with the Orioles and Royals, was obtained from independent ball last year. With the 51's, he was 4-1 with a 6.39 earned run average and two saves. He's 31 years old.

Brooks was signed as a non-drafted free agent from Madonna, Mich., College in 2006. He began last year with Great Lakes where he was 1-2, 5.67. Dropped back to Ogden, he went 3-4, 5.90 with one save.

Taloa was a 35th-round draft choice from Santa Ana, Cal., Junior College in 2005. Last year he started at Ogden where he hit .221 with three homers. Promoted to Great Lakes, he hit .205 with one home run.
