Dominican Dodgers Rally in Eighth, Ninth

Ogden dropped their fifth straight to Orem, despite home runs by Kyle Russell and and Clay Calfee, this time by an 8-7 margin. The The DSL Dodgers came from behind to score one in the eighth and two in the ninth to win 4-3. Edward Bens RBI single earned the win. The GCL Dodgers were rained out again.

Ogden 0-5 After 8-7 Loss
Ogden has scored first in four of their first five games but Orem has solved that problem it seems and for the fifth time in this young season, they beat the Raptors, this time 8-7. Ogden's defense has helped out by committing 11 errors in the five games

A long two-run homer from Kyle Russell and a two-run single from Matt Wallach to give the Raptors a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning but that lasted just two innings and they trailed 5-4.

"That's a team (Ogden) you will see get better and better," Owlz manager Tom Kotchman told the Ogden Standard-Examiner. "They are missing some key draft picks who are still tied up in other leagues and the College World Series. We have just about everybody here who's supposed to be here."

Orem, with a Pioneer League-leading .331 team batting average, exploded for 12 hits and ran their total of 66 hits through the first five games of the season.

The Owlz picked up two runs in the home half of the first inning to cut the Ogden lead in half, helped by a throwing error by Ogden's catcher Matthew Wallach. A three-run triple in the second put them up a run.

Russell doubled and scored on Kyle Orr's sacrifice fly to tie things at 5-5 in the third.

Starter Luis Garcia left after three innings, having allowed seven hits and five runs, although only three were earned. Cal Stanke gave up the next three runs during his four innings and took the loss. The Dodges #5 pick Michael Redding, worked a scoreless ninth.

Clay Coffee banged his first homer of the season in the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-6 and Elian Herrera doubled in the ninth and scored on Pedro Baez's sacrifice fly in the ninth to again close within one.

Orem and the Raptors will be back at it this afternoon for the conclusion of their six-game series.

DSL Dodgers Pull One Out
The Dominican Dodgers scored in the first, watched as the White Sox2 piled up a 3-1 lead and then rallied for a run in the eighth and two in the ninth on a game-tying double by Erick Lantigua and a game-winning single by Edward Bens to earn a 4-3 victory.

Four Dodger pitchers held the Sox to three hits while striking out eight.

A pair of walks and an error allowed the Dodgers to cut the Sox margin to 3-2 in the eighth inning.

Adrian Aviles doubled and Franco doubled in the first inning to put the Dodgers up 1-0.

Daniel Tamares worked four innings and allowed two hits and a pair of runs, although one was unearned, and left the game trailing 2-1. Carlos De Aza was tapped for a walk and a run-scoring single in the fifth to add to the Sox lead.

Jonady Nunez worked 2.2 scoreless innings to keep the Dodgers close and Yennifree Hanson earned his first win when the Dodgers made their comeback.
