Coasties Move into First Place; Raptors 0-7

Ogden battled back from a five-run deficit to tie the game in the eighth on Kyle Russell's two-run homer, only to lose 10-8 to Idaho Falls in 10 innings. The Gulf Coast Dodgers ran their record to 3-0 and moved into first place with a 5-3 win over the Cardinals and the DSL Dodgers were smothered 5-0 by the Royals.

Raptor's Elevator Still Going Down
Ogden shucked the Orem Owlz for the first time this season but Idaho Falls added to their misery with a 10-8 loss, despite fighting back from a 8-3 deficit in the sixth to tie the game in the eighth only to lose in the 10th.

It was the Raptors seventh straight loss and they remain winless on the young Pioneer League season.

Ogden's late inning comeback keyed by a game-tying two-run home run by Kyle Russell in the eighth inning, his second of the young season, and it saw them score five unanswered runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Idaho Falls won in the top of the 10th inning, scoring twice off Raptors' reliever Jon Michael Redding (0-1). Jordan Roberts got the final two outs in the 10th.

In the sixth, with many fans on their way home, the Raptors scored on a pair of strong legs and a pair of strong arms.

Devaris Strange-Gordon, the Dodgers #5 pick in the draft, son of major league pitcher Tom Gordon and probably the fastest man in the organization, displayed his talents during the evening.

He slugged a long shot off the right field wall for a stand-up triple in the second inning and scored on a fielding error. He added sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, driving in Matt Wallach.

In the sixth, he demonstrated his blinding speed. He dropped a perfect bunt down the third base line and when the throw to first was off-line, he streaked into third. Idaho Falls attempted to nail him at third and threw wildly, allowing him to trot home with a the fourth run.

In his eighth-inning at-bat, Gordon hit a slow bouncer to first base, and was narrowly thrown out as he slid over the base just after the throw. The crowd that was still remaining in the stands gave him an appreciative response as he jogged back to the dugout.

Michel Watt started for Ogden and was tagged with four runs, three earned, before leaving in the third inning. Eric Thompson and Marcel Prado followed him on the mound.

Ogden and Idaho Falls play again tonight and the Raptors will try to shake the winless curse.

Coasties in First Place
The Gulf Coast Dodgers built a 5-0 lead, then had to fight off the Cardinals to win a 5-4 decision. With the win they moved to 3-0 and into first place in the East Division. Heavy rains in Florida have curtailed much of the schedule.

Elisaul Pimentel (1-0) earned the win in relief, following rehabbing Kyle Wilson who allowed a single hit and struck out a pair in two innings. Pimentel pitched four innings, surrendered two hits and an unearned run, leaving the game after six with a 5-1 lead.

Carlos Frias was tapped for three runs in the seventh and Beyker Fuructuoso earned his first save with a pair of scoreless innings.

The Dodgers scored a single run in the second on Johancy Guzman's sac fly and added another in the third on a throwing error.

The three-run fifth came with two outs. Kevin Howard ignited things with a walk and Gerald Sands singled. When Albie Goulder walked the bases were loaded.

Jake New singled to score two and when Gorman Erickson reached on a fielding error, the third run came across.

The Dodgers made economical use of their three hits and benefitted from Cardinal errors that allowed a pair of unearned runs. Ramon Jean led the game off with a double but it had nothing to do with the score. The other two hits were by Sands and New.
