Coasties Sweep Marlins, Move to 5-1

Ogden came close to beating Orem but came up no cigar; losing 5-3 in 10 innings despite homers by Devaris Strange-Gordon and Pedro Baez. . The GC Dodgers stopped the Marlins twice, 2-1 and 3-2, boosting their record to 5-1. The Dominican Dodgers have fallen on hard times, slipping to 11-12 with a 9-5 loss to the Blue Jays2.

Owlz Peck Raptors -- Again
Two runs in the top of the 10th inning gave Orem a 5-3 win, and No. 1,500 for Orem Manager Tom Kotchman in nearly 30 years of coaching. Among the players he coached were Garret Anderson, Troy Percival, Todd Green, John Lackey, Frankie Rodriguez. In fact 27 of the 40 players on the Los Angeles Angels' roster, were coached by Kotchman, including Raptors manager Mike Brumley.

Ogden took a 3-2 lead into the ninth, saw Orem tie the game and then win in the 10th. Of the Raptors' nine losses, six have come in extra innings or by one run.

The Raptors scored twice in the second to erase a 1-0 deficit on Pedro Baez's first home of the season. Kyle Orr doubled and scored on an error. Devaris Gordon smacked a home run (#1) in the sixth to make it 3-1.

Geison Aguasviva started and allowed only a single run in five innings. Jonathan Runnels allowed a homer in hit two innings and then turned the game and a 3-2 lead over to Luis Vasquez who gave up the tying run.

Ogden had Steven Caseres in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, but newly acquired center fielder Travis Vetters, who played for Ogden last year, popped out to right field.

After Orem scored two runs in the top of the 10th, one on a wild pitch, off Brandon Tuten (0-3), Matt Wallach led off with a walk for Ogden and with one out, Jordan singled to put the winning run at the plate but Kyle Russell struck out and Clay Calfee grounded out to end the game.

Ogden plays a three game series at Idaho Falls before returning to town for a three-game series with Casper on Tuesday.

Coasties Win Two from Marlins
The Gulf Coast Dodgers dropped the Marlins 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader, scoring twice in the final inning on an error and a wild pitch, and then won 3-2 in the second game.

Eduardo Perez started the first game and limited the Marlins to six hits and a single run but left trailing 1-0. Rehabbing Kyle Wilson (1-0) added two scoreless innings and earned the win when the Dodgers pasted two on the scoreboard in the last of the seventh.

Gorman Erickson singled with one out, the only hit of the inning, and Ramon Jean ran for him. A wild pitch moved him to second and Lenell McGee was hit by a pitch to put the winning run on base.

Joris Bert was also hit by a pitch to load the bases before a fielding error tied the game and a wild pitch allowed the winning run to score.

In the second game, the Dodgers jumped into 1-0 and 3-1 leads as early as the second inning, then used a trio of pitchers to close down the Marlins and win 3-2.

Andres Santiago started and worked four innings, allowing all the Marlins runs. Carl Webster (1-0), the Dodgers #18 pick in the draft, added a scoreless inning to earn the win and Fredy Quintero saved his first game with tdwo perfect frames.

Ramon Jean and Johan Garcia singled to lead the game off and Jean scored on a ground ball. In the second, Albie Goulder doubled, moved up on a fly ball and scored on a balk. Johancy Guzman singled and later scored the eventual winning run on a second single by Garcia.

With the win the Coasties boosted their league-leading record to 5-1.

DSL Dodgers Drop 9-5 Decision
The Blue Jays2 jumped into a solid 9-5 lead and went on to stop the Dominican Dodgers 9-5. Marlon Urriola started ad was tagged for 10 hits and six runs, five earned, over 4.2 innings. However, he fanned eight.

Catcher Edward Bens led the Dominican attack with three hits and a run batted in.

The Dodgers dropped below .500 (11-12) for the first time this season and are in fifth place trailing the Giants by six games.
