DSL Dodgers Sweep Nationals

Dominican pitchers allowed only seven hits and no runs in a doubleheader that saw the Dodgers take identical 3-0 victories, increasing the Coasties record to 12-2 and 5 1/2 games in front of the Nationals. Ogden was suspended by in the third and the DSL Dodgers were not scheduled.

DSL Dodgers Blank Nats Twice
The Gulf Coast Dodgers got first-class pitching efforts, shutting out the Nationals twice by identical 3-0 scores. The Young Dodgers allowed four runs in the first game, only three in the second.

In the opener Eighteen-year-old Carlos Frias worked into the fourth inning and allowed only a single hit. Gari Tavarez (2-0) shut the Nats down the rest of the way to earn his second win.

The Dodgers scored the only run they would need in the second inning on Keyter Collado's double and Joris Bert's RBI single.

The second and third runs came on RBI singles by Rafael Ynoa and Jerry Sands' sacrifice fly.

Ynoa finished with a double and a pair of singles.

In the second game Elisaul Pimentel (2-1) worked five shutout innings and allowed only three hits. Carl Webster didn't allow a hit and nailed down the win and his first save with two hitless frames.

The Dodgers scored twice in the second inning. Garrett Green, the Dodgers 30th choice in the draft, singled and stole second. Shan Sullivan (#32) walked and Johancy Guzman doubled one home and Pedro Guerrero's sac fly resulted in another run.

The third run came across in the fifth on a Chris Jacobs RBI single that scored Johan Garcia, who had led the inning off with a walk.

With the double win, the GCL Dodgers boosted their record to 12-2, best in the league, and now have a 5.5 game lead over the second place Nationals.
