Garrett Green, the Dodgers' 30th selection in the draft out of San Diego State, singled to left field in the last of the ninth with two out, driving in the winning run in a 4-3 win over the Cardinals.

The hit made a winner out of Carlos Frias (1-1) who had taken over in the top of the eighth inning.

The Cardinals had tied the game in the seventh and had taken a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning.

Jake New led off with a single in the bottom of the inning and a fielding error on Gorman Erickson's ground ball put runners at first and second.

An error allowed the tying run to cross the plate before Green whacked his game-winner,

Elisaul Pimentel starter for the Gulf Coast Dodgers and allowed a single run over five innings. Fredy Quintero allowed a run in his 2.1 innings.

The Dodgers outhit the Cardinals 10-9 but left 10 on base. Green was the only Coastie with more than one hit. Albie Goulder had double.
