Dutton's 8th Win Keeps Ogden in the Race

Jonathan Dutton's steady pitching and a pair of home runs by Tony Delmonico and Pedro Baez kept the Ogden Raptors in the thick of the Pioneer League playoff battle. The Coast League Dodgers lost a pair of shutouts, 1-0 and 7-0 to the Nationals, and slid 2 1/2 games back in the East Division. The Dominican Dodgers were not scheduled.

Dutton Wins 8th for Raptors
Jonathan Dutton kept Ogden in the running for a final Pioneer League Playoff berth by winning his league-leading eighth game of the season, stopping Idaho Falls 7-4.

The Chukars had won eight of their last 10 games and are battling Casper and Ogden for the playoff slot. With Orem losing, the standings tighten up and the final 11 games of the season will make for an exciting finish.

Pedro Baez and Tony Delmonico each smacked a home run as the Raptors sent nine to the plate in a four-run sixth inning.

Idaho Falls took a 1-0 lead in the second but Ogden scored twice in the fourth inning on Travis Vetter's two-run double.

Trailing 4-2, Ogden put the game away when in the sixth when Delmonico opened with his sixth home run and with one out, Baez added his 10th to tie the game. Matt Wallach added another run with a ground ball and a wild pitch added the fourth. An error allowed the final Raptors tally.

Dutton worked five innings, allowed four runs and struck out five. Matt Smith added three scoreless innings and Allen St. Clair saved his fourth with a perfect ninth.

Delmonico and Baez each had a single to go with their home runs.

The two teams meet again tonight and then Ogden moves to Casper to battle the Ghosts for a pair.

National Sweep GCL Dodgers
The Nationals not only swept the Dodgers in a crucial doubleheader, they allowed only eight hits and no runs in the two games game. The twin losses drops the Dodgers 2 1/2 games behind the Nats in the East Division but three game back in the loss column.

In the opener, the Dodgers had a pair of singles in the first inning, a single and a National's error in the third, a walk in the fifth, a single in the sixth but couldn't push a runner across the plate.

The Nationals, held to three hits, used all three of them in the sixth inning to score the only run of the game.

Elisaul Pimentel (3-6), who took a no-hitter into the bottom of the sixth, faced only 15 Nationals batters over the first five innings. Only a pair of walks and an error marred the string.

The Dodgers had one last shot in the seventh. Chris Jacobs singled to lead the inning off and was bunted to second. With two out a wild pitch moved him to third but with the tying run just 90 feet away, pinch-hitter Johan Garcia flew harmlessly to center field to end the game.
