Tracking Minor League Ex-Dodgers

A great number of former Dodgers made and appearance in a minor league game during the 2008. Checking just the AAA and AA rosters of the other Major League teams we have compiled a list of them, including a few major leaguers who were down for a short rehab. The list includes only those who played in the minor leagues last season.

Outfielder Victor Diaz had perhaps the best season of any, playing in the Seattle system he recorded 40 doubles. 25 home runs and knocked in 107 runs with a .282 average. Carlos Santana, who was a power for the Inland Empire 66ers, recording a .323 average and 96 runs batted in, continued to mash the ball with the Cleveland AA team, hitting .352 and adding another 19 RBI.

Ed Bellorin hit .335 for the Colorado Rockies and Joe Thurston crafted a .316 average and 44 extra base hits for Boston. In all, 13 different hitters hit or topped the .300 mark.

Gookie Dawkins played for three different systems during the season, Paul Lo Duca two. Ben Davis, who caught for Las Vegas before leaving the Dodgers, hit .172 and is now switched from behind the plate to the pitchers mound.

Pitchers
In the pitching department, Casey Hoorlebeke had a good season for the Mets and Steve Schmoll pitched in 46 games in the Washington minor league system. Eric Hull worked in 40 games.

Jonathan Meloan, who was traded to Cleveland along with Carlos Santana for third baseman Casey Blake, never quite got untracked for the Indians. Eric Hull had an average debut for Boston.
