Hu's Two-RBI Single Sinks Korea

The Dodgers and Korea played even through seven innings before Chin-Lung Hu's two-run single in the eighth broke a 2-2 tie and gave Los Angeles a 4-2 exhibition victory. Randy Wolf struggled a bit but pitched 3.1 shutout innings.

The Dodgers used a raft of pitchers, led by Randy Wolf's solid performance during which he allowed no runs, two hits and struck out four while working into the fourth innng.

He was followed by another lefty, Brian Mazone. Ramon Troncoso gave up two hits, two walks and the only runs that Korea could muster in the fifth inning.

Erick Threets, Shawn Estes (who pitched two shutout innings), Hong-Chih Kuo (making his spring debut), Nick DeBarr (who earned the win) and then knuckleballer Charlie Haeger baffled the Koreans in the final inning to earn the save.

Matt Kemp singled home Russell Martin, back from his tour of duty with the Canadian WBC team, in the fourth inning for a brief 1-0 lead.

Troncoso allowed two runs that held up until the seventh when Blake DeWitt tied the game at two with a two-out RBI double that scored Xavier Paul, who was running for Kemp. Blake DeWitt tied the game at 2 with a two-out RBI double in the seventh.

First baseman Doug Mientkiewicz and Paul walked in the eighth and Hu provided the final two runs of the game with a single.

Dodger pitchers danced around trouble all afternoon, leaving 13 Koreans on base, 10 of them in scoring position.

Wolf pitched out of a bases-loaded mess in the first inning but didn't allow a run. Kuo, in his first "A" game of the spring, retired the first two batters. then left after giving up allowed a single and hit a batter. Mazone and Threets worked out of inherited problems before Estes worked into and out of a jam while throwing two scoreless innings. DeBarr and Haegar were the only two pitchers who didn't allow a baserunner.

Today's against Texas will feature three of the top Dodgers' pitching prospects: Chad Billingsley, Scott Elbert and James McDonald.
