Former Dodgers Scout Dies in Oregon

Former Los Angeles Dodgers scout David Alan Hrdlicka, 57, of Aloha, Oregon. passed away Tuesday evening, March 10, 2009 after a sudden and brief illness at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro, OR.

He was born on August 13, 1951 in Crete, Nebraska. He was the oldest of four children born to Harold and Lorraine (Sasek) Hrdlicka. He was a graduate of the Crete High School Class of 1969 and attended the University of Nebraska.

David worked for SKF USA as an Industry Specialist. In addition, David worked as a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers, which was a passion as well as a job. No matter where he traveled, he would seek out baseball games. If there were ball field lights on, David was there.

First and foremost David was a loving husband and father. David and his son Peter were best buddies and shared many activities including attending Portland Trail Blazer games, Spring Training in Arizona, the College World Series, and many other sports related events.

He is survived by his wife Sheila, a son and two daughters as well as many nieces and nephews.

Service were held Saturday, March 28 in Crete, Nebraska.
