Dodgers April Pride Awards Announced

The Dodgers announced the April winners of the Dodger Pride Awards. The Dodger Pride Awards were created in 2008 by General Manager Ned Colletti, and are given on a monthly basis to the players at each level of the club's minor league system who play the game with a hustling, smart, aggressive style. The players and staff on each respective club vote for the awards

  .    The winners for April:

Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes
Pitcher – LHP Eric Milton went 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA (9 ER/21 IP) in four starts ... he was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 20-26 ... during that span, the 33-year-old went 2-0 and allowed only four hits over 12.0 scoreless innings.  

Player – OF Xavier Paul batted .408 (31-for-76) with eight doubles, two homers, and 14 RBI in 20 April games…the 24-year-old ended the month by hitting safely in five straight games, batting .421 (8-for-19) with two homers and four RBI ... the Dodgers' fourth-round selection in the 2003 draft was recalled by the club on Thursday for his Major League debut, and connected for his first big league hit yesterday vs. San Francisco.  

Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts
Pitcher – LHP Brent Leach went 0-1 with one save and a 0.69 ERA (1 ER/13.0 IP) in nine relief appearances, earning a call-up to the Dodgers on May 2… the Mississippi native struck out 17 batters in 13.0 innings ... the 2005 sixth-round draft pick spent the 2008 season with Single-A Inland Empire and Double-A Jacksonville, going 2-3 with 15 saves, 62 strikeouts, and a 2.60 ERA in 49 games.  

Player – OF Jamie Hoffmann batted .324 (22-for-68) with two homers and 11 RBI in 20 games…the 24-year-old connected for a season-high five hits (all singles) on April 28 vs. Huntsville (Brewers)... the Montana native was 4-for-11 (.364) with three doubles and five RBI in 15 Cactus League games for the Dodgers ... the former hockey player was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2003.  

Single-A Inland Empire 66ers
Pitcher – RHP Chris Withrow went 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA (10 ER/19.0 IP) in four appearances (three starts) ... he struck out 28 in his 10.0 innings, including 10 strikeouts in 5.0 innings on April 22 vs. Lancaster (Astros)... he was selected in the first round (20th overall) in the 2007 draft and pitched just 4.0 innings in 2008 for Inland Empire.  

Player – OF Trayvon Robinson batted .318 (28-for-88) with seven doubles, three homers, and 11 RBI in 21 games ... the Crenshaw native batted .371 (13-for-35) with a homer and seven RBI while hitting safely in eight straight games from April 20-28 ... the 22-year-old was selected by the Dodgers in the 10th round of the 2005 draft.  

Single-A Great Lakes Loons
Pitcher – RHP Ethan Martin went 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA (3 ER/20.0 IP) in four starts ... the Georgia native struck out 26 batters in 20.0 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .169 batting average ... the 19-year-old was selected in the first round (15th overall) of the 2008 draft and did not pitch last season due to a knee injury.

  Player – OF Kyle Russell batted .324 (23-for-71) with seven doubles, three homers, and 18 RBI in 20 games ... the Texas native was drafted in the third round of the 2008 draft, and hit .279 with 11 homers and 46 RBI in 61 games with Rookie-advanced Ogden during the 2008 season.  

Extended Spring Training
Pitcher – RHP Jake McCarter tossed 4.0 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in three appearances ... the 24-year-old was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2008 and went 2-0 with a 4.40 ERA for the Gulf Coast League Dodgers last season.  

Player – INF Justin Fuller batted .241 (7-for-29) and showed exceptional defensive skills at shortstop ... the 25-year-old Alaska native was selected in the 11th round of the 2006 draft.
