Kershaw vs. Weaver Tonight in L.A.

Two fine young pitchers will perform tonight in Los Angeles when left-hander Clayton Kershaw opposes the Angels' Jered Weaver. However, an interesting match-up might have been Jeff Weaver facing his younger brother, but Jeff is only making spot starts now for the Dodgers. The game also features two of the outstanding managers in the game, Joe Torre and Mike Scioscia.

It is the first foray into interleague play for the dodgers this season after thumping their last three National League East Division opponents, winning seven of nine games.

The Dodgers had the day off Thursday and will skip Eric Milton's start, bringing back Clayton Kershaw on regular rest. He's coming off one of the best starts of the season, losing a no-hitter on Cody Ross' double leading off the eighth inning. Kershaw struck out nine but afterward was still concerned about the four walks he issued. It was his first road win of the year. He has a 0.95 ERA in three home starts this year.

Weaver has been equally efficient and delivered a quality effort against the Rangers on Sunday but was shut out. He hasn't given up more than four runs in any of his eight starts, averaging a team-best 6.95 innings per start had has been tough on the Dodgers, recording a 3-1 record in four career starts with a 1.54 ERA. He's 1-1 at Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers in the Bronx in 2010?
According to the New York Post, Joe Torre appears headed toward a Bronx homecoming in 2010. Though next season's schedule won't be official for several weeks, an industry source told The Post that the Dodgers are preliminarily slated for a three-game, interleague series at Yankee Stadium, in what would be their first visit to The Bronx -- barring a Yankees-Dodgers World Series this year -- since the 1981 World Series. Of more significance, it would be Torre's first trip back here since his departure from the Yankees following the 2007 season. Torre, whose contract in L.A. runs through next season, has given every indication he intends to manage the Dodgers in 2010.
