Akins Smacks Third Homer in AZ Dodgers Loss

Orem scored three in eighth to turn a 4-3 Ogden lead into a 6-4 loss. The Rangers scored four first inning runs and despited home runs by Nick Akins and Clay Calfee won a 7-5 decision over the Arizona Dodgers. A seven-run Red Sox third inning knocked the Dominican Dodgers out of the game early and they lost 10-3.

Raptors Lose Third Straight
The Orem Owlz scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 win as Raptors pitcher Greg Wilborn (0-1) took the loss in his professional debut when his three-base throwing error allowed the two go-ahead runs.

Matt Magill started for Ogden and took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the second only to see the Owlz scored three times, helped by a two-run home run. He finished his six innings of work by not allowing hit over the final four innings and he left with a 4-3 lead.

The Raptors scored in the opening inning on Jerry Sands second home run of the young season with Brian Cavazos-Galvez on base with a double. They added another pair of runs in the sixth when Rafael Ynoa walked and Galvez singles, the hit skipping past the center fielder and allowing Ynoa to score the tying run and Galvez to score the lead run right behind him.

Wilbourn took over in the seventh from Magill and ran into trouble in the eighth. A single and a safe bunt put two runners on base. Another sacrifice bunt turned out to be much more than that when Wilbourn threw the ball well down the first base line as two runs scored.

Daigoro Rondon didn't allow a hit in relief but did allow the sixth run to score.

Galvez, Sands and Mario Songco collected two hits each to account for all the Ogden hits.

The teams conclude their four game series tonight in Orem with Edwin Contreras of Ogden meeting Orangel Arenas of the Owlz.
