Three Young Dodger Teams Swept

Ogden frittered away a 5-0 lead and lost 7-6 to Billings. The Dodgers two rookie league teams, the Arizona and Dominican Dodgers have lost seven straight and 13 of 15 games. The Arizona lads were pummeled 19-7 by the Royals and the Dominican kids went down under a 16-6 blitz by the Red Sox.

Ogden Lets Lead Slip Away
Billings fought back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat the Ogden 7-6 and avoid a four-game series sweep. With the loss, the Raptors finish their week-long trip to Montana with five wins and two losses.

The Raptors led 3-0 in the top of the first after Jerry Sands belted a three-run homer, his ninth of the year, just inside the left-field foul pole. Ogden added to its lead with two more in the third, on a double by Brian Cavazos-Galvez, an RBI single by Sands another single by J.D. Wise and Bryant Hernandez ground ball to give them a 5-0 advantage. The Raptors out-hit the Mustangs 13-5 but three errors were their undoing.

Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the third, Billings had two outs and a man at first base when Ogden first baseman Kyle Orr fumbled a ground ball. The Mustangs immediately made the Raptors pay for the error with a three-run homer off of Elisaul Pimentel (2-2) to make it a one-run game.

Billings tied the score in the fourth with another run off Pimentel and took the lead in the fifth with two outs on a double. Ogden second baseman David Iden tried to throw back behind the runner but his throw sailed down the left field line, allowing another run to score to make it a 7-5.

The bullpen duo of Jordan Roberts and Nick Gaudi shut down the Mustangs the rest of the way, and Ogden clawed back to within one, scoring once in the seventh when Cavazos-Galvez singled and scored on a passed ball. But despite several chances, the Raptors could not push another run across.

The loss leaves the Raptors one full game out in the Southern Division race. Ogden returns home Thursday to begin a five-game home-stand starting with two against the Casper Ghosts.

DSL Dodgers Battered by Red Sox
The Dominican Dodgers lost their fourth game in a row and their eighth in the last nine as the Red Sox scored all 16 runs in the first six innings and coasted to a 16-6 win.

Luis Rosano (3-3) was unable to record an out in the first inning, allowing five runs on four hits and a walk. Moises Tamarez and Ivan Eugenia were treated roughly and only when Jonady Nuñez and Ivan Mateo arrived on the scene in the seventh inning could the Dodgers stem the tide of Red Sox runs.

The Dodgers pecked away, scoring six runs on 10 hits with Bladimir Franco (#8) and Abdul Nieto (#1) smacking home runs. Nieto and Jose Capellan had a pair of hits each.
