Ogden Knocked Into Second Place

Ogden enjoyed 24 hours in first place before Idaho Falls regained the division lead with a comeback, 8-7 win. The Arizona Dodgers lost 4-2 to the Rangers despite a Johan Garcia home run. The Dominican Dodgers took Sunday off.

Nice While it Lasted
Idaho Falls knocked Ogden back into second place, scoring five times in the seventh inning to overcome a 7-3 deficit, then held on for an 8-7 win. The two clubs have now split the first two games of a three-game series and are tied for first in the Southern division with seven games remaining in the season's first half.

The Raptors appeared to have a comfortable 7-3 lead going into the seventh inning with Antonio Castillo on the mound. The Chukars fumbled their way to five errors in the first five innings and Chris Jacobs' slugged a three-run home run for a 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

But Idaho Falls tagged Castillo for a pair of walks and a single. Manager Damon Berryhill called for reliever Fredy Quintero (0-1) who would eventually bounced a fastball off catcher catcher J.T. Wise's glove for a passed ball, as the go-ahead run scored.

Ogden had additional chances in the final innings, wasting Brian Cavazos-Galvez's lead-off double in the bottom of the seventh, and stranding Jacobs at second in the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Bryant led off with a single and Jerry Sands walked before Wise hit a come-backer with runners at second and third to end the game.

Brett Wallach started and pitched into the third inning, allowing a single hit and one earned run.

Cavazos-Galvez singled, doubled and tripled. Brian Ruggiano smacked his fourth homer and Jacobs included his third home run in a perfect 3-for-3 night that included four RBI.

With one more win and one more loss than Idaho Falls, Ogden is technically percentage points behind in the standings. The teams wrap up their crucial series tonight.
