Jacobs, Akins Homer in Ogden, AZ Dodgers Wins

Ogden crushed Idaho Falls in the final game of the first half 11-1 as Gorman Erickson collected five runs batted in and Matt Mcgill won his third game. The Arizona Dodgers won 4-2 over the Cubs on Nick Akin's two-run homer in the eighth.

Raptors Win, End First Half
Ogden, who clinched a first-half division crown with a win Friday, rapped out 17 hits good for 11 runs, and held Idaho Falls to a pair of safties on the final day of the Pioneer League's first half. Ogden finished with a 24-14 record, best in the league.

The pitching was just as impressive as the hitting. Matt Magill started and allowed both Chukar hits, including a home run. He struck out six in his five innings. Eric Thompson and Luis Ferreras didn't allow a hit over the final four innings.

The bombardment started in the fourth inning and quickly erased a 1-0 Idaho Falls lead. The Raptors ran a pair across the plate in the fourth, four in the fifth, two more in the sixth and finished with three in the eighth for good measure.

Trailing 1-0 entering the fourth, Kyle Orr gave Ogden the lead with a two-run single. The Raptors added four more runs in the fifth as Gorman Erickson belting a bases-loaded drive off the wall in right to drive home two. Erickson had a season-high five RBI.

The Raptors, who led the league in home runs throughout the first half, added their first of the day when Chris Jacobs went the other way for his fourth hit of the day and fourth homer of the season, a solo shot, to cap the scoring.

The Raptors return home to open the second half with a six-game home-stand, beginning with the Casper Ghosts tonight.

Akin's Homer Top The Cubs
Nick Akins drove a shot over the center field fence with Stetson Banks on base to snap a 4-2 tie and help the Arizona Dodgers to a 4-2 win over the Cubs.

Andres Santiago made short work of the Cubs in the ninth to secure the win and earn his second win of he season.

Although it might look like a family affair, Brian Akin started and worked two perfect innings for the Dodgers. Akin and Akins are not related.

Carl Weber allowed only one run in his three innings of work and it was unearned. Santiago pitched the final three innings and although he allowed the tying run in the seventh, he collected the win on the big home run.

The Dodgers scored in the first and second innings. Casio Grider opened with his successful single-and-steal-second routine, then scored on a wild pitch. Jonathan Garcia singled, went to third when the left fielder messed up the play and scored on a passed ball

The Dodgers, now 3-4 in the second half of the season, broke a three-game losing streak with the win.
