Chad Billingsley overcame a rocky start to lead the Dodgers in one of his best starts of the season. The veteran righty went eight innings and struck out 11, while throwing 120 pitches. Billingsley, who hasn't lost since May 5th, continued his resurgence against the Diamondbacks. While he did not gain the victory, he was able to rest the bullpen by going deep into the game.
Manny Ramirez added his fourth homerun of the season and Rafael Furcal and Matt Kemp both doubled. Kemp paced the offense by going 3/4 with a stolen base.
The Dodgers trailed until the 8th inning when a Kelly Johnson error allowed two runs to score. In an unusual conclusion to the match up, Esmerling Vasquez balked in the Casey Blake giving the Dodgers a walk off victory and bestowing Jonathan Broxton with his third win of the season.
Notes From The Dugout:
Andre Ethier returned for the first time since breaking his pinkie on May 15th. Ethier went 0-4, but did not strike out.
Billingsley's 11 strikeouts mark the second time he has fanned at least ten Diamondbacks. He did not get the win in either contest.
