Brandon Belt On Fire In The DR

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE - Scottsdale 3, Peoria 4

Brandon Crawford has hit a bit of a cold spell in Arizona, going hitless in his last three games including an 0-for-3 on Wednesday. Crawford's average has fallen under .300 for the first time in a while, down to .286 (24-for-84).

Joe Panik, hitting second in the order ahead of Crawford, continued his assault on AFL pitching on Wednesday. The 21-year-old went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. Panik has hit safely in seven straight, and in 11 of his last 12. For the year, Joe is hitting .333 (30-for-90) with six doubles, a triple and a home run. Franklin's perfect day paces Javelinas


Brandon Belt had a big game on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, a run and an RBI. Brandon's hit streak is at 10 games for the Leones del Escogido, during which he's hitting .371 (13-for-35) while slugging four doubles, two home runs and plating six runs.

Francisco Peguero went 1-for-4 for the Gigantes de Cibao in a 1-0, 11-inning loss to the Toros del Este. Peguero is hitting .258 (17-for-66) with two doubles and a homer this winter.

Osiris Matos pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the 1-0 win for the Toros, allowing one hit and striking out two. Matos has been lights out in the DR, sporting an ERA of 1.93.

Juan Perez played left field Wednesday for the Aguilas Cibaenas, going hitless in three at-bats and dropping has average to .309 (30-for-97). Perez did have an outfield assist, however, gunning down a runner at second base.


Tyler Graham broke out of his slump on Wednesday, picking up two hits -- including his first home run of the winter -- in five trips to the plate. Graham scored twice, and also knocked in a run for the Tomateros de Culiacan. The 27-year-old Oregon State product is hitting .262 (34-for-130) with five doubles, three triples and the one home run.

Justin Christian went 1-for-4 with a strikeout for the Caneros de Los Mochis Wednesday, and is hitting .267 (16-for-60). Christian has hit safely in nine of his last ten contests.


Hector Sanchez had another 2-for-4 game on Wednesday, slugging a double and plating two runs while striking out once. Hector has seven hits in his last four games, including two doubles. The 21-year-old continues to hover around the .400 mark, hitting .392 (31-for-79).

Ehire Adrianza fell below the .300 mark for the first time this winter on Wednesday, going 0-for-4 with a run and dropping has average to .298 (14-for-47). After early success, Adrianza is cooling off a bit, with only three hits in his last seven games for the Tiburones.

Jose Flores got one at-bat Wednesday, coming in as a late-inning replacement for the Aguilas de Zulia. The 24-year-old native of Araugua, Venezuela has just one hit in his last six games. He's hitting .243 (9-for-37) overall.


Yet another day off Wednesday for the ABL, nothing to report.


Catcher Johnny Monell didn't play Wednesday for the Criollos de Caguas.
