Hector Sanchez Keeps Hitting In Venezuela

Today in your Winter Ball Roundup: Perez shines in the DR. Sanchez back in action -- and the hit column -- for the Tiburones. Adrianza struggling in the VWL. The usual fare for Graham in Mexico. Burg picks up where he left off for the Perth Heat.

Games played Friday, December 2.

Juan Perez had a nice night Friday for the Aguilas Cibaenas. After coming in as a pinch runner, Perez went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, taking his average back over the .300 mark to .304 (38-for-125). The 25-year-old also demonstrated his versatility, playing both right and center field.

It was a typical night Friday for Tyler Graham, going 1-for-5 with a double, a run and a strikeout. Graham also swiped a bag for the Tomateros de Culiacan, stealing third base for his eleventh swipe in 45 games.

Hector Sanchez was back in the lineup Friday for the Tiburones de La Guaira, after getting a day off Thursday. Sanchez kept right on hitting, going 1-for-4. The 22-year-old slugged a double, scored a run and plated one as well. Sanchez's average dropped a few points, down to .390 (46-for-118) on the season.

Ehire Adrianza got some playing time Friday as well, hitting eighth and playing short for the Tiburones. Adrianza went hitless in four trips to the plate, striking out once. The slick fielding infielder has been ice cold at the plate lately, perhaps due to the fact that he's only playing about once a week. He has just one hit in his last five games, and his average has fallen to .259 (14-for-54).

Alex Burg played a little second base Friday for the Perth Heat. It was the first time he'd seen the field since November 20. The versatile 24-year-old went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of strikeouts. Burg continues to demolish ABL pitching to a tune of .354 (17-for-48).

Neither Johnny Monell nor Andres Torres saw action in the PWL Friday.
