Tight snapping curve and feel for change. Was a preseason prep All-American in 2003. Selected to Junior National team. Pure power pitcher who can theoretically throw in the high 90s. Hit 96 in his last high school start.

COMMENTS: Athletic body. Built like John Valentin. Balanced, open stance. Loose, live arm. Above-average arm strength. Sure-handed. Line-drive hitter with occasional power. Generates good bat speed. Has not had a productive year at bat but came on late after he was moved to the leadoff position in the batting order. Aggressive player with good instincts. Started 15 games at catcher, and 22 games at third base. Has seen extensive time at second base, third base and the outfield, in addition to behind the plate. Steady, reliable player. Good athlete, competitor. Tallied six doubles, a team-best three triples and three homers. Missed five weeks of the 2002 season with a strained MCL suffered on April 12 against UC Santa Barbara.

While in high school, twice selected in 50th round of the major league free agent draft, by the Boston Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
