Rawlings is busy announcing the 2015 Gold Glove winners via Twitter and Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford is bringing the prestigious award home to San Francisco for his 2015 campaign.
Crawford, who was also named as an All Star in 2015, has spent five seasons with the Giants. The Gold Glove award comes on the heels of a stellar defensive season placing Crawford second in Defensive WAR (2.9), second in assists as SS (427), fourth in putouts as SS (191), and first in Total Zone Runs as SS (19).
Crawford is only the second Giants Gold Glove recipient at the shortstop position, the other being Omar Vizquel. Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle quoted Crawford saying he was optimistic, based on this year's performance, but "still a little surprised."
Congratulations to Brandon Crawford!
