Giants 4th of July Pregame Notes

With the injury report filling up, there are lots of names to keep an eye on, as well as what to expect from Rockies starter Tyler Anderson

When I asked Bruce Bochy prior to Monday's 4th of July spectacular about the relatively inexperienced opposing pitcher Tyler Anderson of the Rockies (0-2, 2.66). The Giant manager said that the record shouldn't fool you. "He's throwing the ball well. He's got good stuff. He can hit 93 and has good secondary pitches. We're going to see a good left-hander today." Anderson has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his four starts this season.

On the Giants injury front, Sergio Romo has been added to the roster, but a corresponding move had not been made. Bochy said that Denard Span, who received some injections in his neck, is a candidate.

Kelby Tomlinson will be starting in the field in Sacramento tonight after being the designated hitter for San Jose the past two days.

Bochy feels that with Angel Pagan back in the lineup and Gregor Blanco nearing a return that the outfield has some coverage. If they need someone for any reason today, Grant Green would likely be the first option to cover the outfield.

Joe Panik is progressing, but won't be back until after the All-Star game. Ramiro Pena is feeling better and should start tomorrow.
