Arizona Diamondbacks: 9/5-9/7 Series

A match up of two rookie sensations followed by a match up of two of the great arms in baseball... How much better can it get? The Dbacks have not won at Pac Bell this year, and the Giants would like to keep it that way. Unfortunately for the Dbacks, they get another taste of the Giants' one-two rotation punch.

OVERALL PREDICTION: GIANTS
The Giants are red-hot right now, especially at home, with the last series boosting their major league leading home record percentage. The Dbacks don't like to play at Pac Bell at all, better yet, they don't enjoy playing the Giants. The Giants would like to send the Dbacks home winless in San Francisco.

There will be talked about pitching match-ups in this series, with two great rookies and two just plain greats going against each other. Arizona has not found an answer for Jerome Williams, but the Giants have not found a definite answer for Brandon Webb either.

Curt Schilling and Jason Schmidt. Enough said about that match-up.

The Giants will look for Sidney Ponson to continue being dominate as they roll closer to the postseason. Elmer Dessens has not been doing well this season, or against the Giants in his career either.

    PREDICTION: TIED

    BULLPEN: GIANTS
    Relievers: Giants
John Patterson and Jose Valverde have been solid relievers for the Dbacks, but Chris Capuano has been struggling. The Giants bullpen has been very solid for them, keeping games close and giving their offense the chance to come through and win in tight games.

    Closer: Giants
Tim Worrell has been doing very well for the Giants, with a save in every opportunity he had in the last road trip and in this homestand so far, as opposed to the Dbacks' Matt Mantei, who has not had many opportunities with save situations, but has been doing a good job since inheriting the closer job.
