Pedro Feliz led off the bottom half of the second with a single. Damon Minor grounded out to shortstop, moving Feliz to second. Neifi Perez hit a single to right to drive in Feliz, but got out trying to stretch his single into a double.
Kirk Rueter easily got the first two batters out in the fourth, but Danny Bautista and Hairston hit consecutive singles, putting two runners on with two outs. Hammock hit a single to center, driving in Bautistia to tie the game. In the Giants' fourth, Barry Bonds hit a solo shot to give the Giants a quick boost.
Rueter and the Giants held on to their 2-1 lead until the seventh inning. Hammock and pinch hitter Chad Tracy both singled, and Matt Kata failed to sacrifice the runners over. The Giants were able to get Hammock out at third. However, Alex Cintron singled to center, scoring Tracy and moving Kata to third. Barry Bonds let the ball get by him, allowing Cintron to make all the way to second. After Rueter's intentional walk to Luis Gonzales, Jim Brower took the reins. Shea Hillenbrand hit a grounder to short, but the Giants could only get Gonzalez. Hillenbrand was safe at first and Kata scored the lead run.
The Giants were quick to get back in the game in the eighth inning. Michael Tucker, Marquis Grissom, and Barry Bonds were all walked, loading the bases for Feliz, who belted a double to deep center, driving in both Tucker and Grissom, and giving the Giants a 4-3 lead. Matt Herges successful kept the Diamondbacks from getting on base in the ninth to earn his 14th save of the year.
Player of the Game: Pedro Feliz. He really made things happen tonight, and definitely made up for his error. His error didn't even cost the team a run, and he scored the Giants first run, and drove in their third and fourth. Without him, the offense would have been unable to pull out a victory!
